OUR DATA CENTRE DUE DILIGENCE SERVICE (DC-INSIGHT-360)

Our Data Centre Due Diligence infrastructure covers the key areas of a clients Data Centre implementation, to ensure the facility meets the operational, financial, and compliance standards expected.

Due Diligence Assessments can be undertaken either prior or after an installation, depending on the purpose of the Due Diligence. If you are unsure what areas should be covered in a Due Diligence, please contact us and we can provide guidance on what areas should be selected.

Our Due Diligence services cover the following areas (if there is something missing you need, feel free to reach out to us):

  • Power and Cooling Systems – We assess the capacity, redundancy, and efficiency of facility power and cooling systems, assessing their suitability to support the client’s infrastructure, now and for the future.
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) – The BMS is critical for monitoring and managing the physical Data Centre infrastructure. Our specialists will evaluate the suitability and functionality of the installed BMS, providing a detailed assessment report of the system’s implementation.
  • Equipment Age and Condition Providing a view on Technical Debt even in the Data Centre is an important aspect of the management and running of a Data Centre. Our specialists are experienced at assessing the age and maintenance records of critical equipment.
  • Tier Levels and Equivalents – We are not permitted to provide official certifications for the classification of Data Centres as these are closely licensed to organisations who provide a fee for the service. We can though provide an indication of the expected classification of the Data Centre, highlighting shortfalls where identified.
  • Maintenance Management – We undertake a full review of the Data Centre Facility maintenance schedules, procedures, and staffing, assessing its suitability for maintaining the facility at the levels required to support its clients and infrastructure.
  • Historical Failure Reports – We analyse identified past failure incidents to identify patterns and potential risks. Providing an assessment report on the incident(s) highlighting areas of shortfall and recommendations to address the shortfalls.
  • Commissioning Reports – We check the project teams commissioning reports for insights into the facility’s operational readiness.
  • Service Level Agreements (SLAs) – We review SLAs with Service Providers to identify shortfalls and/or potential hidden costs.

We undertake an evaluation of the physical IT server infrastructure, virtual servers, storage systems, network switches, routers, firewalls, and other hardware components, including their age, condition, and capacity.

  • IT System Software – We undertake an analysis of server operating systems, virtualisation software, management tools, and security software, including licensing, version, and compatibility.
  • Procedures and Processes – We review of the standard operating procedures (SOPs), emergency operating procedures (EOPs), maintenance schedules, incident management processes, and disaster recovery plans for their suitability to support the business operations. Where appropriate we will provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitoring and Management – We undertake an evaluation of the identified tools and systems for monitoring the performance and health of the Data Centre infrastructure and IT equipment, as well as incident management / ITSM systems.
  • Documentation – We review the detailed documentation of Data Centre infrastructure, configurations, and procedures to ensure their completeness, accuracy, and currency.
  • Compliance – We assess of the Data Centre’s adherence to local facility and business regulations, standards, and best practices, including data protection and privacy laws, and industry-specific standards.
  • Risk Management – We undertake an evaluation of risks associated with the current Data Centre operations, including physical security, cybersecurity, and business continuity risks, along with measures to mitigate these risks.

Our report is a thorough document that is laid out to be clear to the reader. The Report will document the Scope of the Due Diligence activity, the Process of the Due Diligence, the findings per area assessed, the opinion of our specialist team, and any recommendations for remediation, where identified and required. The document is summarised in an Executive Summary.

Where requested an Executive Management Presentation can be provided to allow the Management Team to ask questions from the Due Diligence Team.
